Funded Energy Redress Projects

Since the Energy Redress Scheme launched Phase One of the scheme in 2018, Energy Saving Trust has awarded over £102 million to fund nearly 538 projects across England, Scotland and Wales. These grants have enabled organisations to deliver projects that help energy consumers in vulnerable situations to save energy and money in their homes and to live warmer, more comfortable lives. Phase Two of the scheme launched in May 2022.

Raising Standards for Southampton Tenants

The project will raise awareness amongst privately renting tenants about their rights, in particular around Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) and the housing health and safety rating system (HHSRS) and empower them to report issues, which can then be enforced.

Project Name
Deaf Energy Awareness (for the) Future

The project will enable the Centre to employ a BSL Energy Champion who will be trained to deliver energy awareness, advice and guidance to Deaf people, supported by a team of volunteers.

All communication will be in British Sign Language (supported by Interpreter where required). The Champion will deliver 20 awareness/education events over 2 years across South Wales as well as detailed one to one sessions with deaf households to help them save energy and money in their homes.

Project Name
EASIE: Energy-Advice Spread through Innovation Engagement

EASIE: Energy-Advice Spread through Innovation Engagement will pilot a range of engagement mechanisms to identify and support 261 under-served/hard-to-reach Hounslow households, including Deaf and Blind residents, people who do not speak any English, residents with severe long-term health conditions and residents suffering from extreme social isolation.

They will achieve this through a combination of assisted energy-advice home visits, bolstered by targeted clinics, stalls and talks at community events and faith groups, and frontline training workshops.

Project Name
Supporting vulnerable Govanhill energy consumers

This project will provide home energy advice to residents on Glasgow's southside, particularly vulnerable families living in privately rented accommodation. The project will enable experienced energy officers to give face to face advice to residents from their community base, as well as follow up support in the home. 

The service will be promoted through other local organisations and the team will work collaboratively with both the local Council’s energy team and Home Energy Scotland.

Project Name
County Durham Social Landlord Tenants Project

This project will engage and support vulnerable consumers that are living in social housing and provide them with tailored energy advice and support that they do not currently have access to. Referrals into the programme will come from a range of stakeholders and partners including, Social Landlords and Housing Associations and members of the Advice in County Durham Network (170+ members). Tenants will also be able to self-refer.

It will also help to build capacity across the Energy Advice sector in County Durham and join up the support that is available for vulnerable energy customers.

SAVERS

‘Savings and Advice for Vulnerable Energy Residents in Slough’ (SAVERS) will support 625 vulnerable residents in Slough, focusing on low-income families, individuals with long-term health conditions/disabilities and socially isolated older people. 

SAVERS Green Doctor visits will include: Property surveys, Installation of small energy saving measures, referrals for larger measures, behaviour change advice, energy switching service and signposting to financial/benefit support e.g. debt assistance and Signposting to wellbeing services.

This project will see Stirling CAB combine advice and support in managing home energy, with a small capital budget to help vulnerable residents save energy and money in their homes. The capital improvements will be delivered through a partnership with a volunteer handyman organisation “Volunteering Matters”. 

The Project will also refer appropriate clients to other expert organisations for specialist advice and/or bigger improvements e.g. new boilers.

Energy Health and Outreach Scheme EHOS

The ‘Energy and Health Outreach Scheme’ (EHOS) will provide a holistic approach to addressing fuel poverty, through a multi-agency approach, with a focus on health and care professionals. The project will employ Affordable Warmth Outreach Workers to support the newly formed Primary Care Networks, alongside the developing dementia friendly communities.

The officers will be community-based, working with GP practices and other health and social care organisations to provide energy advice to people in poor health and to increase the knowledge of energy issues amongst health care professionals.

Project Name
The HEAT Partnership

The HEAT (Home Energy Advice & Training) Partnership will provide individually tailored, accessible advice to vulnerable consumers within Edinburgh.  The service will create an innovative partnership with the Edinburgh & Lothian Regional Equality Council (ELREC) to engage with clients who are marginalised due to language difficulties, cultural barriers, or lack of confidence or awareness of how to obtain energy advice.  The service will also work in partnership with the Edinburgh City Mission Food Bank network, to offer vulnerable clients energy advice at the point of crisis.

This project will utilise Groundwork’s community-based projects and local partnerships in disadvantaged communities to identify and help vulnerable energy customers in most severe need.

Working in partnership with local agencies, they will target those with least control over their energy use, who are vulnerable to living in cold homes and who do not engage with other services, delivering high quality domestic energy advice and energy saving measures to households that need it most.

Energy awareness training will be delivered to 150 community-based groups and experienced Community Energy

This project will utilise Groundwork’s community-based projects and local partnerships in disadvantaged communities to identify and help vulnerable energy customers in most severe need.

Working in partnership with local agencies, they will target those with least control over their energy use, who are vulnerable to living in cold homes and who do not engage with other services, delivering high quality domestic energy advice and energy saving measures to households that need it most.

Energy awareness training will be delivered to 150 community-based groups and experienced Community Energy Advisers will support 2,800 vulnerable households, offering bespoke home-based advice on energy use, behaviour change, switching, and benefits/debt support alongside small energy saving measures.
