PHASE2 Energy Smart People & Communities

Charity
Newport City Homes

This project will build on a previously funded project; providing energy advice and support to households in Newport and southeast Wales areas. The project aims to deliver advice and support to around 15,000 households.

Having previously identified emerging challenges for vulnerable customers to take advantage of modern energy efficient technologies, this project will incorporate a proactive focus on vulnerable customers moving into new energy efficient or retrofitted homes.

In a new initiative in Newport, half of social rented homes are being ring-fenced for customers with a history of homelessness or living in temporary accommodation. The project team will focus on energy related pre and early tenancy work to ensure that these customers are supported with advice, skills, and practical support to prevent them falling into fuel poverty.

They will also continue to work with partners and the wider community, expanding to GP surgeries focusing on the links between fuel poverty and poor health.
