Funded Energy Redress Projects

Since the Energy Redress Scheme launched Phase One of the scheme in 2018, Energy Saving Trust has awarded over £102 million to fund nearly 538 projects across England, Scotland and Wales. These grants have enabled organisations to deliver projects that help energy consumers in vulnerable situations to save energy and money in their homes and to live warmer, more comfortable lives. Phase Two of the scheme launched in May 2022.

The project aims to support vulnerable and hard-to-reach households with their home energy issues in a way that will help to minimise energy-related difficulties, maximise income, and improve overall household comfort and wellbeing. They will do so via an innovative new service delivery model combining the provision of energy advice and energy-saving measures in a single home visit for those experiencing access issues caused by mobility problems, rural location or low income.

A partnership of five organisations will see ten energy advisors trained to deliver face-to-face energy saving advice to 1350 Black, Minority Ethnic (BME) households in Pennine Lancashire, so that they can access and benefit from specialist energy advice. The interventions will be delivered in a culturally sensitive way, in various community languages and from community venues to ensure accessibility.

This project will provide specialist advice and support to some of the most vulnerable households in Birmingham where fuel poverty and energy debt is the primary presenting need. The aim of the project is to deliver sustainable solutions for disabled people experiencing fuel poverty. They will provide one to one information, advice and casework tailored to each client’s individual circumstances, delivered via multiple channels for accessibility.

Refugee Energy Project Suffolk

The project aims to give vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in Suffolk the knowledge and tools to reduce their energy consumption and costs. The project will provide specialist information, advice and guidance on energy costs and usage through their Advice Service and group work, using bilingual advice workers and information translated into key refugee languages. They will also provide accessible information on available government support packages and energy company relief grants, as well as support around access to energy meters.

The project will provide a Energy Health Checks service to 1,000 vulnerable households across Somerset, West of England, Wiltshire and Swindon. Energy Health Checks has been designed by their advisors, in consultation with beneficiaries and referral partners, to provide in-depth Home Visits to vulnerable people needing more in-depth advice than normal home visits or from phone calls.

The project aims to engage vulnerable people in community activities and support them to get the help they need to keep their properties warm and their bills under control. The project will be delivered through community outreach, telephone calls, and home visits. They will provide information to help people understand their bills and how to reduce day to day costs as well as giving specific advice around energy usage and bills. They will also distribute small measures tailored to people's needs to help people reduce their home energy costs.
