Empowered 2.0 will enhance the provision of free, in-depth energy advice and support to assist consumers in Rhondda Cynon Taff (RCT) facing fuel poverty due to the cost-of-living crisis and high energy bills. A Specialist Energy Adviser (SEA) will be employed at 37 hours per week, to deliver advice, support and casework, to 805 vulnerable consumers, including: people aged 75+, low-income families and single parents with children under the age of five, people with disabilities, or health conditions, which are exacerbated by cold homes. The SEA will collaborate with advisers and partners (NEST, Warm Wales, Care and Repair, and the Council’s Energy Team) to achieve this, whilst accepting reciprocal advice referrals. Crisis and capital funds will delivered to help reduce energy bills amongst those in fuel poverty that cannot afford to access such support.
