Funded Energy Redress Projects

Since the Energy Redress Scheme launched Phase One of the scheme in 2018, Energy Saving Trust has awarded over £102 million to fund nearly 538 projects across England, Scotland and Wales. These grants have enabled organisations to deliver projects that help energy consumers in vulnerable situations to save energy and money in their homes and to live warmer, more comfortable lives. Phase Two of the scheme launched in May 2022.

Project Name
There's no place like home

Groundwork West Midlands and Home from Hospital Care will work together to deliver affordable warmth support to people returning home from hospital. 500 people will receive in-depth advice and advocacy support, a further 800 people will receive energy literacy information and 400 households will benefit from the installation of small energy saving measures. Two of Home from Hospital Care's 'After Care Coordinators' will become trained energy advisers and 20 of their volunteers will be trained to identify energy related issues when working in people's homes.

Angus HA Kirkbank Internal Heating Upgrades

Angus Housing Association is seeking a contribution from the Redress scheme towards the cost of upgrading the internal heating system in 36 properties that are being added to a shared loop ground source heat pump. The properties currently have electric storage heaters that are expensive and difficult to control. The new wet central heating systems will provide a more efficient heating system for the vulnerable residents and help to reduce fuel poverty.

Project Name
Warmer Torfaen

Warmer Torfaen will provide Energy Advice for clients of the Torfaen County Borough Council Financial Inclusion Unit. 

The Energy Caseworker will attend visits with Financial Inclusion Unit support workers where fuel poverty has been identified. They will assess the condition of the property and the needs of the household and provide appropriate advice on energy saving behaviours. They will enable the installation of small energy saving measures into the clients homes and refer them onto additional sources of specialist energy support.

Save Warm N Informed

A 2-year project that will offer targeted, multi-lingual support including home visits and capital measures, to help vulnerable people in BAME communities to better understand energy issues and avoid getting into fuel poverty. The programme will mainly be carried out by newly trained Community Energy Champions from BAME communities. The champions will promote energy efficiency within their communities, deliver home visits and provide small capital measures, to help people save energy and money. The project will also create and distribute a new Information Pack for BAME tenants.

Energy champions

This project will enable the Foundation to offer an enhanced energy advice service to 12,000 vulnerable social housing tenants across Central Scotland over two years.

The advice team offers friendly one to one support, mostly in people’s homes, working through six social housing providers. 

They help people to understand the information and choices available to them and overcome barriers so that they can access essential products and services from the energy market that are suitable for their needs.

The project will enable the charity to have a qualified energy adviser based in their new Mental Health hubs, to support the most vulnerable people in their communities with home energy issues.

Project Name
Deaf Energy Smart

Deaf Energy Smart will provide information and advice about energy to Deaf people in their first language, British Sign Language (BSL).

Information will be provided online in BSL clips, at workshops and at outreach events within the Deaf community. Advice will be provided face-to-face and online via webcam, both in BSL, and during home visits for elderly and vulnerable Deaf people.

Participants will be able to save on energy bills, claim any help they are entitled to, understand and control their energy usage and live more comfortably.

Chillout & Save Your Energy

This project will work with young people to educate and train them to engage with energy issues, providing the understanding, tools, personal support and resources that they need to make better informed choices and decisions regarding energy.

A toolkit will be developed to help specialist youth workers integrate energy advice into their work with young people and the project will enable four social action projects to be developed by young people across Wales.

Ashfield Energy Efficiency

This charity aspires to tackle the high fuel poverty rates in their area by providing a 2-year energy advice service, focused on the most vulnerable clients in their area.

Working with other partners and stakeholders, clients will be helped to save money on their energy bills through face to face advice and support in accessing energy efficiency grants, to further prevent them from suffering from fuel poverty.
